National Geographic Educator Certification by Erica Roth

This winter I participated in the National Geographic educator certification program. The course focuses on fostering an explorer’s mindset in students and teaching about the world through the National Geographic Learning Framework. I was excited to collaborate with educators from around the world, and submitted a final capstone project on a unit that I designed around the Recycled Orchestra of Paraguay. More information about certification can be found here: https://www.nationalgeographic.org/education/professional-development/educator-certification/

I really enjoyed watching and listening to your podcast, Erica. I, too, have used the video about the Landfill Harmonic with seniors when we are reading Behind the Beautiful Forevers by Katherine Boo. It makes a significant impact on the students and their awareness of the creative minds of people who must make something from nothing.
